Green Schools at St Declan's

Green Schools is an international environmental education programme (known as Eco Schools), environmental management system and award scheme that promotes whole school action towards a sustainable environment through the implementation of a Seven Step methodology.

For 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 we are preparing for our next An Taisce Green Schools flag. The theme for the next two school years is Global Citizenship: Litter and Waste. Ms Coote is our Green Schools coordinator. The children are busy maintaining the themes of our previous flags, which were litter and waste, energy, water, transport and biodiversity. The green schools committee have been selected for this school year and they are busy monitoring and promoting our Green school theme throughout the school.

We received our fourth green Flag for travel in April 2013

We received our first Green flag in 2005 for recycling

We received our third Green Flag in 2010 for Energy Conservation
