Ukulule Lessons in Room 5

Ms Mc Nulty’s class are busy this term learning how to play the ukulule. Gillian Power a qualified musician from the Power of Music is teaching the children for two hours every week. The ukulele is part of the lute family and is a small guitar –like instrument with four strings. The fun nature of this instrument keeps kids interested and engaged in lessons in learning more about music. As part of the lessons the children will learn about beat, harmony, melody, rhythm and tempo. The ukulele helps develop eye-hand co-ordination as well as independent movement of fingers. They are really enjoying the lessons and we look forward to them performing at our next assembly.
