Planting Carrots
Biodiversity is the fifth Green-Schools theme and looks at steps which can be taken to increase awareness of the importance of native plants, animals and habitats, and to increase species-richness in a locality.
We can’t wait for the action day on March 3rd! Our class planted carrots this week and we can’t wait to see them grow.
We’ve also been using the iPads to research native animals, bird, plants and insects. Did you know that Ireland has 98 native bee species, one third of which are in decline. A study from the Department of the Environment found that bees are worth a whopping €53m to our economy each year! You can find out more at https://greenschoolsireland.org/themes/biodiversity/
