Opening Prayer

Dear God, thank you for our friends. Thank you for the fun we can have with them and the happy times we spend together.  Please help me to be a good friend.  Please help me not to be selfish but to think always of other people and their needs. Amen.

Quiz Teams

                                                                                                                        

A huge congratulations to our Junior and Senior quiz teams who took part in the Credit Union Quiz in  the Ashbourne House Hotel on the 31^st of January  We are so proud of Rob from Room 2 who represented our Junior quiz team and came joint 3^rd. Well done to Liam Room 25, Ella Room 6, Joe Room 24 and Conor Room 3 who were on the Senior quiz team. A big thank you to Ms Mc Nulty for preparing the children for the event. It was a fantastic achievement !!

Corfheile

                                                                                                                        

Good luck to the children in 5^th class who will be representing St Declan’sin the Corfheile next Tuesday the 3^rd of March in the basketball arena in Tallaght. They have been practising very hard with Mrs O’Rourke, Mr Mc Keown and Ms King. They are going to perform for us at the end of assembly today.                                                                                                                          

PA School Disco   

                                                                                                                                     The Parents Association held two discos last Wednesday the 19^th of February. There was great excitement in the school and I am pleased to report the behaviour was excellent. Thank you to the PA for organising a fantastic night and to everyone who volunteered their time to make the event successful. We are very lucky to have such a hard working PA.

Well done to Thomas Conlon, Amy Hickey, Ella Boshell, Faymaade Owade, Rachel Richardson, Aine Lambe, Max Larkin, James Woodruffe, Ale Mc Adam,Leonard Murray and Josh Bourke Andrews from 5^th and 6^th class who were part of the athletics team that went to the cross country event in Fairyhouse on Friday the 14^th of February. They all put in a great performance. Thank you to Ms Kelly for training the team.

Lent                                                                                                          

Ash Wednesday, is the first day of Lent. Lent is forty days, leading up to Easter, when we think especially about our relationship with God. It reminds us of the time when Jesus spent forty days in the desert, thinking deeply about his relationship with God, his Father. Lent is a time when we try extra hard to do what is right by trying our best to make the right choices. It is a time to think about how much we love God – and how much he loves us.
