Dec’s Got Talent 2020
We are so lucky to have so many talented children in St. Declan’s. We have held a Dec’s Got Talent Show in St.Declan’s in June over the past few years. It has always been a great end of year celebration for us. This year in lght of everything we decided to have a virtual talent show. All auditions were sent via Seesaw for the class teachers to view. Mr Mc Keown picked three acts from 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th to go forward to the final. The final was held via Zoom on Monday the 22nd of June. It was a very exciting night as all families of the finalists joined us virtually alongside our judges Mrs Collier, Ms Lydon, Mr Farrell and Mrs O’Rourke. Mr Kearins hosted the meeting while Mr Mc Keown did MC.
From 2nd class we had……..
Ashton Room 19 who showed us his break dancing abilities. It certainly wasn’t murder on the dance floor.
Katie Room 19 sang a beautiful version of Somewhere only you know. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Maya Room 19 demonstrated her art abilities and brought us into her den to showcase her ability as an artist.
From 3rd class we had
Conor Room 11 performed a mixture of high jumps, football, hurling, diving, balancing and dog tricks in his county jersey. We definitely think he could play for Meath some day.
Anastasia Room 20 showcased her Taekwanda and had us at the edge of our seats and she showed us all her moves.
Alannah Room 20 gave a fantastic performance of her gymnastics. Alannah is no stranger to the stage as she was part of Dec’s Got Talent last year.
From 4th class we had
Daisy Room 7 sang Someone you loved by Lewis Capaildi and we were blown away by her really powerful voice. It was brilliant.
Crea from Room 9 and her horse Diamond put on a great show. Crea was off the horse more than she was on it but we were very impressed with her determination. Just as well it was a virtual performance as we don’t think Diamond would have fitted onto our stage in the PE hall.
Maya from Room 7 who played Eye of the Tiger on the keyboard. It was a ROARING performance.
From 5th class we had
Conor Room 3 with his magic card tricks. How did he do it??
Taylor Room 4 with her modern dancing. She was so flexible, we couldn’t believe the positions she held in pose.
Amy Room 2 who rapped for us. We were so impressed with the speed of her rap and her ability to remember all the words.
From 6th class we had
Daniel Room 24 who wowed us wityh his version of The Auld Triangle by the Dubliners. He has a fantstic voice.
Christina sang a Billy Ellish song Eight while playing the ukulue. We were seriuosly impressed.
Lucy Room 25 sang a beautiful version of Bittersweet Tragedy and we loved her beautiful sweet voice.
They got extremely encouraging comments from all the judges and the decision to pick two acts out of the fifteen was a tough one. After much deliberation Katie from Room 19 won the young and upcoming act 2020 and Christina from Room 24 won the overall Dec’s Got Talent 2020. Thanks to all the children who auditioned and it’s safe to say St. Declan’s certainy has got TALENT !!
