Cycling Safety Week
The children from third classes have recently been involved in a cycling safely to school programme. Ashling O’Connor our community guard came into our school a few weeks ago to speak to the third classes about how to be safe when cycling to and from school. They were all issued with licenses and told if they were caught breaking any of the rules they would be given a penalty point. The Students Council were involved in monitoring the programme and stood guard at the gate every morning. All the children were really good at aiding by the rules and not too many were given penalty points. Children who managed to avoid any penalty points for the week were awarded a prize today. We learnt a lot abut the importance of wearing a helmet and Ashling said she would call to the school soon to do a spot check. Well done to all the boys and girls who got prizes and thank you to the Students Council for helping out during the week.
