Today is Ash Wednesday. which is the first day of Lent. Lent is forty days, leading up to Easter, when we think especially about our relationship with God. It reminds us of the time when Jesus spent forty days in the desert, thinking deeply about his relationship with God, his Father. Lent is a time when we try extra hard to do what is right by trying our best to make the right choices. It is a time to think about how much we love God – and how much he loves us.

We went to the church for a prayer service with Father Ciaran and Father John. Father John eplained to us that the ashes he was going to use were from the psalm leaves that they burnt last Psalm Sunday. We received ashes as part of the prayer service.
