We had our February assembly today for 3rd and 4th classes.
Dear God, thank you for our friends. Thank you for the fun we can have with them and the happy times we spend together. Please help me to be a good friend. Please help me not to be selfish but to think always of other people and their needs. Amen.

The Parents Association held two discos last Wednesday the 19th of February. There was great excitement in the school and I am pleased to report the behaviour was excellent. Thank you to the PA for organising a fantastic night and to everyone who volunteered their time to make the event successful. We are very lucky to have such a hard working PA.

Well done to Mr Mulroe’s 3rd class Room 21 who had our extra visitors in their classroom for a few weeks. The new additions were called Christopher Columbus, Stanley, Eggsy and Mr Bob. They were very cute !!! They have left St Declan’s to go to lie on a farm. Thank you to Mr Mulroe for organising everything. It was a very special treat.
Mighty Mouths Programme
Well done to the three 3rd classes who have completed the Mighty Mouth Programme over the past few weeks. They have been learning about taking care of their teeth by brushing them correctly and the importance of oral health and the essential role of tooth-friendly foods and drinks.
Fighting Words Workshop
Well dome to Mr Mulroe’s 3rd class who went to a creative writing workshop recently. The children wrote an original story called The Adventure of the Red Jumper. They worked on the characters, the plot and illustrations as a class. The book was typed up and bound and brought back to school where they got a chance to write an individual ending to the story. Thank you to Ms Mc Nulty for organising the workshop. It was an excellent day out.
Today is Pancake Tuesday and I hope you all enjoy some pancakes later on. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, which will be the first day of Lent. Lent is forty days, leading up to Easter, when we think especially about our relationship with God. It reminds us of the time when Jesus spent forty days in the desert, thinking deeply about his relationship with God, his Father. Lent is a time when we try extra hard to do what is right by trying our best to make the right choices. It is a time to think about how much we love God – and how much he loves us.
