STEM Workshops for 5th and 6th Classes

All children from 5th and 6th classes were involved in a STEM workshop today as part of Science Week. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educatong students in science, technology, engineering and maths. Through STEM children learn problem solving, creativity, teamwork, independent thinking, initiative, communication an ddigital literacy. The children were involved in numerous experiments today ….. coffee filter chromatography and they made oobleck from cornstarch and water which is a newtonian substance. It looks a liquid but acts and feels like a solid. They used plenty of thinking skills to predict the results of experiments. Who knows we might have a few scientists in the making!! Thank you to Takeda Dunboyne Biologists for providing the workshop for us. It was a very enjoyable workshop for all involved.
