Report Writing
We have been focusing on report writing in all classes over the past few weeks.
What is report writing ?
Reports are used to systematically organise and record factual information referring to the classification and description of things for example bees, life during World War One, Mount Everest.
The children collectively contribute to a bank of facts about a topic. They discuss what they have read and seen and also use any other prior knowledge they have on the subject.
They sort the facts using the following key heading classification, description, special facts. They construct full sentences using these facts and arrange paragraphs according to key headings. For the final draft headings are removed, extra information can be added and the report is edited and refined.
