Reading Recovery Graduation
Congratulations to Ms Mooney from our school who graduated from Marino College on Thursday the 1st of June. Ms Mooney was training all year and is now a fully qualified reading recovery teacher.
Reading Recovery is a licensed, school-based, short-term, early literacy intervention funded by the Department of Education and supported by the PDST. It is designed for Senior Infant children who have low literacy skills after their first year of school. Reading Recovery involves intensive one-to-one lessons for 30 minutes a day with the Reading Recovery teacher and the child. The Reading Recovery teacher creates opportunities for the child to problem solve and provides just enough support to help the child develop strategic behaviors to use on texts in both reading and writing.
We are so lucky to have such interested and dedicated staff on our team of teachers and we thank Ms Mooney for her commitment and hard work over the past twelve months. She has worked with a number of Senior Infant children this year while training and will continue to share her knowledge of teaching literacy to the wider school community going forward. Huge congratulations from all your colleagues !!!
