Garda Ashling O’Connor visited our school yesterday to speak to children in classes 3rd to 6th about Fire Safety for Halloween and to speak to the children about a new mobile phone initiative that is being rolled out in Ashbourne. Ashling gave the children special pockets for them to put their parents mobile phones into when they are travelling in the car. The slogan on the pocket reads……………..

This pocket is for your mobile phone,
When driving to and from your phone,
Please concentrate when you drive,
And improve our chance to stay alive.

Ashling spoke to the children about accidents that occur when adults are talking and texting on their mobiles when driving. We encourage all of our parents to listen to their children and put away their phones when they are in their cars.
