Maths Week 2024

October 25, 2024

Each year to promote Maths in our school we hold a Maths Week. During this week  the children are encouraged to recognise Maths in our daily lives and play games  that involve mathematical concepts. Maths week in St Declan’s was full to the brim  with fun filled Maths activities. Junior Infants to second classes were kept busy sorting, matching,  classifying, balancing, ordering and sequencing sets. Our 3rd classes went to the Helix to see Andrew Jeffrey who is a mathemagician. Different classes completed Maths trails around the school. They used  their Maths eyes to find shapes, numbers, colours in the environment. Thank you to Ms O’ Malley and Ms Mc Enroy for coordinating the week. It was a huge success.

Our 3rd classes went to the Helix to see Andrew Jeffrey who is a mathemagician. During the show the children got to watch and take part in a variety of maths activities and magic tricks. Patterns were a big part of the show teaching the children that there are patterns everywhere and we need them for everyday Maths.
