Grandparents Day in St. Declan’s

March 29, 2023

We had a memorable day in St. Declan’s today when our wonderful grandparents visited our school for Grandparents Day. They were greeted on arrival by our very enthusiastic Students Council and escorted to the hall. We had a presentation in the hall followed by a performance on the violins by our 3rd class children. Ms Collins’ 1st class children performed a poem for the audience. We watched a video of a selection of children from our school sharing their favourite things about their grandparents. The children in 3rd class also sang Beautiful Meath. Father Michael joined us and said a blessing over our grandparents. Some children made leaves and hung them on the tree in reception in remembrance of grandparents who have gone to heaven. The grandparents were then brought to the classrooms to say hello to their grandchildren. Afterwards the PA provided refreshments in the hall. It was such a special day for everyone involved. A huge thank you to Ms O’Malley for coordinating the event and to the Students Council for helping out on the day. Also thanks to our PA for providing refreshments on the day and our caretaker Tommy. Please see the link below of the video made.
