Fingal Final 2015
All roads led to Parnell Park last week for our Girls Division 2 13-a-side Fingal final against Balrothery N.S. Hopes were high for the girls following on from our semi final victory over Gaelscoil Tulach na n-Óg, as our large band of supporters made loads of noise in the stands of the famous North Dublin grounds. In what was a tight opening period, Balrothery took an early lead but St. Declans responded with an early free from Katie Carragher. Following on from this score Anna Seaka found the back of the net from close range with an excellent strike. At this stage, our girls were in control, however the Balrothery girls were coming into the game more and more. By half time we found ourselves trailing on a scoreline of 1-4 to 1-2 with Katie Carragher adding another point with a delightful kick. Lauren Tyrell and Niamh Hughes were introduced at half time. Both girls made a fantastic impact, with Lauren cracking home a goal from very close range, mid way through the second half. The Balrothery girls weren’t deterred and responded again with a few well taken scores to put them back in front. St Declan’s were left to rue a few gilt-edged opportunities and try as they may they could not close the gap. On the final whistle, the score read 1-8 to 2-3.
It has been a wonderful year for St Declan’s girls with our Meath Schools final victory. All credit must go to the girls and their teachers Ms Molloy and Ms Crehan.
Well done girls, you did us proud!
