As we embark on another school year in St. Declan’s we continue our aim to be an active school. We had great fun in St Declan’s today as we participated in European Schools Sports Day. At 10am all classes downed tools as the children danced and took part in different exercises in their classrooms. At break time before the classes were brought back in by their class teachers they did an active activity……..they did star jumps, running on the spot, high knees and burpees but to name a few. All day long classes visited the PE to participate in dances with their teachers. Mr Farrell, Mr Mc Keown and Ms Quinlan were on hand to demonstrate the dance moves and were also aided by a fantastic active schools committee. Have a look below to see the moves in action……

First classes danced to Macarena, Twist and Shout and The Birdie Song
Second Classes-Room 17,18,19
Second classes danced to Macarena, Twist and Shout and Watch me whip
Third Classes-Rooms 11,20,21
Third classes danced to Bring Up Sally, Twist and Shout and Cheerleader.
Fourth Classes-Room 5,7,9
Fourth classes danced to Bring Up Sally, Twist and Shout and Cheerleader
Fifth Classes-Rooms 2,3,4
Fifth classes danced to Bring Up Sally, Twist and Shout and Cheerleader.
Mar from Room 3 and Brandon from Room 2 won a spot prize for their impressive press ups.
Sixth Classes-Room 6,8,24,25
Sixth classes danced to Bring Up Sally, Twist and Shout and Cheerleader.
Alberto, Liam, Leonard, Mary Kate, Vicky and Evie won a spot prize for the best press ups.
Even the teachers got carried away in the moment. Mr Farrell and Mr Mc Keown had a dance off but it was a draw match !!
