Attendance Drive
We have identified attendance as a focus for our school improvement plan. This is an objective shared by the Department of Education and Tusla Education Support Service (TESS). We have established an Attendance Team (Ms. Curran, Mr. Quinn and Mr. Kearins) who will lead this important work. The Attendance Team will be supported by all the teachers and staff, our Student Council and the whole school community, including parents as key partners in education. We have decided to have an Attendance Drive during February and have been planning for this at recent staff meetings, In-School Leadership and Management meetings and Parents’ Association meetings.
Weekly Raffle
“Quarter past 9, be on time!” – for the three school weeks in February, every child who is in the line for 9:15am will receive a raffle ticket (stickers in infant classes) and be entered into a weekly draw. If your child is in on time for the 5 days during the week, they will have 5 raffle tickets to put in the draw, 4 days 4 raffle tickets etc. The draw will be held on a Friday and a winner from each class level will receive a prize (e.g. voucher for Melt Ice Cream shop). The class with the highest attendance percentage during each week in February will receive a Bumper Breakfast. We are sure this will go down a treat!!
Family Poster Competition – Please get Involved!!
We are going to have a competition where a family can design a poster around the topic of promoting good attendance. There will be €30 Just Eat vouchers for the most creative designs – so get all the thinking caps on and get involved!! It will really help to create a buzz and awareness around the importance of regular school attendance.
