Our Journey into Outer Space- Senior Infants Rm13
The Senior Infants in Ms McCormack’s Class (Room 13) have blasted off into Outer Space! We have been learning all about Space as part of the new Oral Language Curriculum and Aistear (Structured Play). Here are some of the children having fun and learning in Aistear. The Aistear stations include role play in the Nasa Space Shuttle and the Moon. The children were counting down and blasting off into space. We also went on Moon walks and collected real moon rock! We had to wear our helmets because we needed oxygen and we floated about a lot as there is no gravity! We also made fantastic Space shuttles with paper, card and glue. Children at the Construction station made Space stations and spaceships. Children using the playdough created asteroids, aliens, stars and much more! In class we have been watching video clips of famous astronaut Chris Hadfield in Space and we even read his children’s story book called The Darkest Dark. We have been learning the names of the planets in our Solar System and the order they are in. Looking up at the night sky will never be the same again!
